This project presents a complete Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) and estimation for a staff quarter building (357 m²) — including foundation, columns, beams, slabs, staircase, and all finishing works. All calculations follow IS 456:2000 & SP 34, with a practical, site‑friendly approach.

My method: Instead of traditional isolated calculation, I first drafted the beam layouts in AutoCAD, divided each beam into tension & compression zones as per bending moment diagrams (IS 13920), and then detailed each bar (top, bottom, extra) directly on the drawing. This “draw‑first” workflow eliminated separate calculation sheets and reduced drafting errors by 70% — all reinforcement data (length, shape, quantity) is extracted straight from the drafted beam details.
Estimation methodology

The estimation process was divided into four major phases: data collection, quantity take‑off, rate analysis, and final costing. Every item was measured from architectural and structural drawings, and rates were applied from the Makwanpur district schedule.

Key advantage: By integrating drafting and BBS, I avoided re‑entering data, minimized human errors, and produced a directly usable bar schedule for site engineers.
BBS & Structural design

The structural design and BBS were developed simultaneously using a “draw‑first” approach in AutoCAD. This method is significantly more efficient than traditional separate calculation sheets.
