1. Teaching & Practical Assistant – Structural          & Material Engineering

Khwopa Engineering College

(Aug 2024 - Jun 2025)

Role Overview

Worked as a Teaching and Practical Assistant for core civil engineering subjects, focusing on structural mechanics, concrete materials, and field/laboratory practices. Assisted instructors, guided students, and ensured smooth academic and practical sessions.

Subjects Assisted

1. Strength of Materials (SOM)

  • Demonstrated tensile, compression, and hardness testing using UTM.
  • Explained concepts like stress–strain behaviorelasticityplasticity, and modulus determination.
  • Helped students interpret test results and prepare practical reports.

2. Concrete Technology & Masonry Structures

  • Assisted in conducting tests on:
    • Workability (slump, compaction factor)
    • Mix design (based on IS 10262)
    • Compressive strength of concrete cubes
    • Sieve analysis of aggregates
  • Demonstrated properties of fresh and hardened concrete.
  • Guided students in brick masonry bonding patterns and basic detailing.

3. Theory of Structures & Structural Analysis

  • Provided tutorials on bending moment, shear force, fixed beams, and influence lines.
  • Helped students understand analysis of determinate & indeterminate structures.
  • Explained stiffness method basics and application in structural software.

4. Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) & Steel Structures

  • Assisted students in understanding:
    • Flexural design of beams
    • Column design and interaction curves
    • Slab design (one-way & two-way)
    • Design of tension/compression members
  • Helped them verify manual calculations and interpret design charts.

5. Surveying & Instrument Handling

  • Supported students in field demonstrations during lab periods.
  • Introduced them to basic total station operations and levelling fundamentals.

Additional Contributions

  • Helped coordinate student groups, manage class schedules, and prepare materials.
  • Assisted faculty in conducting practical exams, viva, and lab management.
  • Improved student engagement by simplifying complex topics with diagrams and real examples.

Key Outcomes

  • Enhanced the learning quality for students across multiple structural and material subjects.
  • Strengthened communication, instructional skills, and lab management experience.
  • Built a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of structural engineering education.

2. Survey Camp Instructor – Engineering Surveying & Field Training

Khwopa Engineering College

(sep 2024 - oct 2024)

Role Overview

As a Survey Camp Instructor, I was responsible for guiding undergraduate civil engineering students through practical surveying activities. The goal was to help students develop strong field measurement skills, understand survey principles, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world topographic and engineering projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Training on Surveying Instruments

Provided hands-on training on major surveying instruments, including:

  • Total Station – setting up, leveling, angle measurement, distance measurement
  • GNSS / GPS/ Drone – coordinate measurement, waypoint survey
  • Auto Level – levelling, BS–IS–FS readings, profile leveling, cross leveling etc.
  • Prism, Staff & Accessories – field setup and accuracy handling

Students were trained to perform precise field observations, troubleshoot common errors, and maintain equipment properly.

2. Road Alignment Design & Field Work

  • Guided students in selecting a feasible road alignment based on terrain and topography.
  • Taught bearing calculations, curve setting, and chainage marking.
  • Supervised longitudinal and cross-section surveys for road design.
  • Helped students prepare L-Section and X-Section drawings used for road planning.

3. Bridge Setting Out Using Triangulation

  • Demonstrated methods for transferring control points across riverbanks.
  • Used triangulation to mark abutment and pier locations.
  • Explained error adjustment, resection, and station establishment.

4. Data Processing & Map Preparation

  • Guided students in processing survey data using:
    • Total Station output files
    • Manual booking sheets
    • Excel for calculations
  • Helped them prepare:
    • Contour maps
    • Topographic maps
    • Plan & profile drawings

Ensured accuracy through adjustments like Bowditch Method and Least Squares (if required).

5. Evaluation & Academic Support

  • Discussed errors, accuracy, and correctness in field data.
  • Conducted viva examinations and assessed survey reports.
  • Provided guidance on report formatting and technical writing.

Key Outcomes

  • Students gained professional-level competence in modern surveying tools.
  • Strengthened teamwork, field discipline, and practical engineering skills.
  • Improved understanding of alignment selection, field geometry, and topographical mapping.
